The Madalyn Murray O'Hair - FCC Hoax

This hoax has been around in various forms since the 1970's. It comes back about every year and has a new twist to keep it current. In it's most basic form, the petition or e-mail, says something to the effect that Madalyn Murray O'Hair (O'Hair is often misspelled as O'Hara.) is trying to get the FCC to ban all religious program, the same way she was able to prayer banned in school.

I have a friend named Dave who works at a radio station. He is also an Elder at a Christian Church in Indiana. Dave heard about this rumor and called the radio station's lawyer, who is a Christian and asked him about it. The lawyer did not know about it and promised to check into it. A little while later, the lawyer called Dave and, informed him that this rumor is a hoax, the FCC gets thousands of these inquiries every year and is tired of getting them. In addition, they made references to how uninformed Christians must be to keep falling for this hoax.
The latest incarnation of the story includes the part about Madalyn still attacking us from the grave. Lately it includes attacks on Touched by and Angel and Seventh Heaven. It is just the latest twist to a old hoax.

Please, inform everyone you can that this is a hoax, I get dozens posts and queries about this subject a year and have so for the past 18 years.
I think it is important that we get the truth out to all Christians. We need to make sure we do not look like we are uninformed to the world. Let's spend our time attacking real problems, not just tilting at windmills.
